Capacities for Nutrient Circularity, in short 'CirCan', is an Interreg Baltic Project Platform that has the objective to increase capacities for nutrient circularity in the Baltic Sea Region via better policies. The Project Platform, an Operation of Strategic Importance (OSI), will assess the status for implementation of the HELCOM Baltic Sea Regional Nutrient Recycling Strategy, and it will analyse results, conclusions and recommendations of a number of current and recent projects in the area of nutrient recycling, and re-structure these for the benefit of establishing a clearer basis for the work of relevant HELCOM groups and EUSBSR Policy Areas.

The ultimate gola is to help national authorities, ministries, and sectoral agencies in the BSR making better use of recent knowledge on nutrient recycling.

The Platform is led by HELCOM. Partners are LUKE from Finland, IUNG and MEERIPAS from Poland, and ORGANE from Denmark. The budget is M€ 0.98 and the Platform will be implemented in the period from July 2026 to October 2028.
